Reward dollars can be redeemed by the Primary AMA Member, or spousal Associate AMA Member. In the case that an Associate AMA Member on that account was the person who earned the reward dollars, they would require the Primary AMA Member’s consent to redeem.
In case of divorce or relationship breakdown, and with AMA’s authorization, the Primary AMA Member may release accumulated reward dollars to an Associate AMA Member under the same account. In the case of death, reward dollars accumulated under a Primary AMA Membership can be transferred to an AMA Membership belonging to a family member of the deceased. If that family member does not have a Primary AMA Membership, reward dollars must be used to set up a new Primary AMA Membership for a person named by the executor of the estate and any remaining reward dollars in the deceased AMA Member’s account would be deposited into their account.
