What to Expect from AMA's Online New Driver Program

In 77 years we’ve trained over 880,000 Alberta drivers, with no compromises on safety. Our goal – to create safe drivers for life. And there’s no better time to enrol you child for driver education

Canada’s First Online New Driver Program

Our Online New Driver Program is perfect for busy families and self-motivated students, as it allows them to take the program from the comfort of their own home (or wherever’s most convenient).

Our Online New Driver Program offers:

  • The same quality of education found in our traditional Driver Education
  • Transcripts
  • The ability to replay lessons, which helps English as a Second Language students

As well, AMA members save $80 on a New Driver program (that pretty much covers the cost of a new membership!). And graduates of our Driver Education programs also get a coupon worth up to $200 off their AMA auto insurance policy.

About Our In-Vehicle Instruction

Our instructors are provincially certified and get additional in-house training that goes beyond Alberta Transportation’s requirements. And as we know, better instructors make for safer, more confident students.

For the best experience, we recommend combining our Online New Driver Program with AMA’s renowned In-Vehicle training — this also gives you access to insurance discounts, plus we help our grads save even more, like up-to an additional $200 in savings when you insure your vehicle through AMA Insurance.

Depending on the experience of the driver and the program purchased, some driving lessons can take up to six weeks or longer – and for good reason. We make sure your teen understands all the important driving concepts before the final lesson ends through our one-on-one in-vehicle instruction. So we allow enough time between lessons for your teen to absorb the information we provide. That way they get it – for life.
