Does AMA Provide Written or Road Testing?

Great news! AMA now offers both knowledge testing (aka written tests) and road test scheduling at all AMA centres across Alberta.

What to Keep in Mind When Upgrading Your Driver’s Licence

If you’ve gone from a Class 7 to a Class 5GDL, or from a Class 5GDL to a Class 5, you don’t need to bring a copy of your written test results. For every other Class, we will need to see the original documents showing your test results and the road test permit (this shows that you passed your road test) when you come in.

You may also need to bring a completed medical exam form:

  • For a Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s licence
  • If you are over 75 years old
  • If you have a medical condition that could affect your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle

Note: To allow enough time to complete any last minute tests and to issue any licenses required to students who pass, we start wrapping up our knowledge testing for the day 45 minutes before the centre closes.

Need to Take a Road Test?

AMA provides competitive pricing, easy scheduling, and high quality, independent examiners for Class 4, Class 5 (GDL and Advanced), and Class 6 driver’s licence road tests. Schedule a road test
