Fill Our Fleet: Help Support Local Food Banks

Because No One Should Go Hungry, Especially During the Holidays

AMA was founded on the goal of helping Albertans live their best lives. Now in its sixth year, Fill our Fleet is our single biggest act of charity. Every holiday season we assist members in giving back to families struggling to put food on the table. To date, through Fill our Fleet and AMA Shredding events, we’ve helped raise nearly $400,000 and 100,000 lb. of food for local food banks across the province.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the donations go?
All donations stay local, and we work with ten food banks across the province to ensure donations stay in the community.

What are all the ways AMA gives back during Fill our Fleet?

  • Every year we set aside money to add to member donations. We will announce how much we’re donating later into the campaign.
  • We provide each of our staff a paid volunteer day where they can give back to their local communities.
  • We coordinate several staff fundraisers, such as bake sales, jeans days, and collections boxes, to help increase funds and non-perishable food
    donations.
  • Community Acts of Kindness. Each AMA centre picks one act of kindness to perform in their community between Dec 1-17. AMA will provide the resources (time, budget, etc.) to each centre so our staff can give back to others in a creative and meaningful way. Some ideas could include: adopt a local seniors’ centre to help provide some festive cheer, support a low-income school with activities and treats, or coordinate a group of volunteers to assist at local food banks in the way that is most needed.

Can I get a tax receipt?
Of course! You can receive a tax receipt for all monetary donations over $25. However, AMA does not issue the receipts. If you donate online you can select an option to get a receipt from the charity. If you donate in centres we’ll collect your information so that local food banks can issue your receipt in January.
