Bringing the Battle Back to Alberta

Back to Blog

Alberta hockey fans are gearing up for some serious cheering, with both the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers in Round One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Think of it as Alberta vs. California, with the prize being a return of the Battle of Alberta.

AMA wants to make sure you stay safe, have fun, and are well fed while cheering your favourite team.

If you’re heading out to watch the game while tipping back a pint or two, don’t take a chance on landing in the sin-bin or causing a crash. Plan ahead to get to and from your destination safely and leave your vehicle at home.

There are plenty of alternative ways to get around on game night. Team up with your buddies to draft a sober driver each game, or utilize the taxi or public transit services around your preferred sports pub. If the game stretches into multiple overtimes and your safe transportation plan has skated away, Alberta Designated Driver Services will help both you and your car get home.

If you’re throwing your own playoff party, there’s no better game day food than pizza. And it’s even better when you order online from Pizza 73. Members save 20% off any large everyday deal with your exclusive coupon code when you place your order online. Find out how to get your Pizza 73 coupon code.

Remember, if you’re hosting a party and your guests have had a few, you won’t be called for interference by insisting they don’t drive. When it comes to keeping your friends safe, put on the zebra stripes and blow the whistle on driving impaired. Offer to help them find a safe way home, or a night on the couch in your locker room.
